A Personal Letter from Our Chief Executive Officer
You may never remember my name, but I hope you always remember how you were treated at Newman Memorial Hospital. Before we become part of your healthcare journey, I would like to share a little about ours—and the promise we make to every patient who entrusts us with their care.
More than one hundred years ago, Dr. O.C. Newman founded this hospital upon a simple but enduring belief: where a person lives should never determine the quality of healthcare they receive. While medicine has changed dramatically over the past century, that belief remains the foundation of everything we do.
Today, Newman Memorial Hospital is a public trust Critical Access Hospital, owned by and governed on behalf of the people of Oklahoma. We exist for one purpose: to improve the health of the communities we serve. Every investment we make, every service we expand, and every partnership we build is guided by our responsibility to our patients, their families, and the communities that have placed their trust in us.
Over the past several years, our organization has grown into one of Oklahoma's fastest growing integrated rural health systems. Together with exceptional physicians and dedicated healthcare professionals, we have expanded access to primary care, specialty care, surgery, emergency medicine, behavioral health, rehabilitation, advanced diagnostics, telehealth, and comprehensive women's health services. We are also working to restore local obstetrical services while advancing innovative maternal health initiatives through certified nurse midwife care, doula support, transportation assistance, patient navigation, community outreach, and home based and mobile models of care so that every mother has access to exceptional care close to home.
What makes Newman truly special, however, is not simply the services we provide. It is the people who provide them. Every day, remarkable physicians, nurses, therapists, technicians, volunteers, and support staff come together with a shared purpose: to care for every patient with compassion, dignity, and excellence. Many of our physicians travel hundreds of miles each week because they believe rural communities deserve the same level of care found anywhere in our nation. Their commitment reflects the very spirit upon which this hospital was founded.
We believe excellence is not a destination—it is a promise. It is reflected in every conversation, every bedside interaction, every diagnosis, and every decision we make. We continually challenge ourselves to improve because we believe you deserve healthcare that is safe, compassionate, and of the highest quality, regardless of where you live.
As Chief Executive Officer, I want you to know that every member of our organization understands the privilege and responsibility of caring for you. Behind every appointment, every procedure, and every hospital stay is a person, a family, and a story that matters. We will never lose sight of that.
