Newman Memorial Hospital provides its patients with several important services related
to cardiopulmonary health and screening, including the following:
Electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG)
This is a test that checks for problems with the electrical activity of your heart. An EKG shows the heart's electrical activity as line tracings on paper.
Cardiac Stress Test (or Cardiac Diagnostic Test)
A test that measures a heart's ability to respond to external stress in a controlled clinical environment. The stress response is induced by exercise or by drug stimulation.
This is a battery-operated portable device that measures and tape-record your heart’s activity continuously for 24 to 48 hours or longer depending on the type of monitoring used.
Newman Memorial Hospital is dedicated to providing emergency care services when you need them the most. Our newly constructed Emergency Department hosts a Level IV Trauma Center, which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We offer a wide variety of emergency care services with a focus on speed and excellence.
Newman Memorial works closely with such services as Apollo, EagleMed and AirEvac Lifeteam to offer rapid transport for our patients that require a higher level of care.
When you visit, you will be greeted by a member of our nursing staff who is dedicated to providing you high-quality care in a culture of compassion and with attention to your privacy.
Vaccines help develop the body’s ability to fight the germs which cause certain infectious diseases. The best defense against preventable infectious disease is vaccination. Newman Memorial Hospital provides vaccines for adults, 18 years and older with insurance/Medicare. Adults without insurance are encouraged to contact the Woodward County Health Department 580-256-6216 for needed vaccines.

Recommendations are that all girls and boys aged 9-26 get the HPV vaccine. If you can’t afford to get your child vaccinated, VFC may help. Please see the program details above.
Newman Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital. Our in-patient suites have been remodeled to make our patients feel “at home” while receiving 24-hour care from our highly skilled nursing staff and physicians. Each suite has a TV, a private bathroom with a shower and a window with a view of the rolling countryside.
All of our staff are required to complete annual training on safety, infection control and HIPPA guidelines. This means you can focus on recovering while knowing your safety, care and privacy are top priorities.
By using state-of-the-art technology, training and instrumentation, the laboratory professionals at Newman Memorial Hospital help prevent disease by detecting unknown problems and aiding the diagnosis and treatment of conditions with accurate, timely test results.
Lab tests comprise nearly 70% of a patient's record and are vital to diagnosis and treatment. Results of lab tests often identify disease in the early stages, when possibilities of a cure are greatest and treatment is least costly.
Highly Qualified Staff
Newman Memorial Hospital laboratory performs testing for hospital patients and out-patients. The laboratory is fully staffed with a team of professionals performing tests in chemistry, immunology, toxicology, hematology, microbiology, transfusion services, and point-of-care testing.
The team of laboratory professionals performs testing services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Advanced Interface & Remote Reporting
Our analytical capability is supported by a laboratory computer system interfaced with instruments and integrated with the hospital information system with order entry inquiry and remote reporting of results.

Swing Bed Program
At Newman Memorial Hospital, we understand that going home after an acute care stay in a hospital isn’t always easy. Some patients find themselves in that middle ground of no longer needing acute care, but not feeling quite strong or secure enough to return home.
Luckily, there is a middle ground option in our Swing Bed Program. If you have been hospitalized as an “acute care in-patient” for a minimum of three consecutive midnights within a 30-day period, Medicare and most insurance companies will likely cover a Swing Bed stay.
Nursing Care & Rehabilitation
Through a combination of rehabilitative services, attentive nursing care and medical supervision, patients gain the strength and confidence they need to return home to care for themselves. Patients often return to Newman Memorial Hospital following orthopedic or general surgical procedures when they need more time to recover.
This allows patients to be close to home and/or loved ones during their rehabilitative process. If you or a family member find yourselves in need of assistance while on your way to recovery, our Swing Bed Program is here for you.
WIC Outreach Clinic
Newman Memorial Hospital serves women and children in our community by providing a free supplemental food and nutrition education program for pregnant and postpartum women, infants and children under five years of age who meet certain guidelines.
This is accomplished through our WIC (Women, Infants & Children) program. The Newman Memorial Outreach WIC Clinic is available on Thursdays from 8 am to 4 pm by appointment only. Walk-ins will be taken if time permits. Click here for more information.
