DOT Physicals

If you are compensated for operating a motor vehicle, you may be required to periodically undergo a DOT physical or DOT exam.  The Department of Transportation (DOT) mandates these exams for professionals, particularly truck and bus drivers, to acquire or retain a commercial driving license and guarantee that nothing adversely affects their driving abilities.

To comply with federal regulations, a certified examiner must conduct your examination.  A standard physical starts with an evaluation of your medical history and a review of any medications you regularly take.  Additionally, during your physical, your examiner will:

  • Perform a physical examination to evaluate for any abnormalities
  • Check your blood pressure and pulse.
  • Perform a vision test, as drivers need at least 20/40 acuity in each eye.
  • Conduct urinalysis for indications of underlying medical conditions.

Failure to meet the examination requirements will result in the examiner being unable to issue a certificate.

Cost: $100
